ECB looking into claims of racist and homophobic abuse during fourth Ashes Test
The ECB says it is"disturbed" after a fan reported alleged racist and homophobic abuse at the fourth Ashes Test at Old Trafford.
An England supporter says a bunch of guys were still singing a racist song about quick bowler Jofra Archer.
In addition, he said female fans had been subjected to chants that were sexist, including he'd witnessed homophobic abuse.
The supporter was attending the match with his loved ones and printed his complaints on social media. His version of events has been verified at a reply by at least another fan on networking.
An ECB statement :"The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is very troubled to hear a report was made concerning anti-social behavior from a bunch of audiences through the fourth Specsavers Ashes Test match in Emirates Old Trafford.
"We are currently working together Lancashire to understand the particulars of the case. ECB works closely to ensure that guidelines are set up at every place so that watching a cricket match is safe and fun .
"Venues are responsible for the stewarding performance at matches but we have lots of measures in place to continually improve standards, including contracting the Sports Ground Safety Authority (SGSA) to audit all areas, adopting the ICC's anti-racism and discriminatory behaviour code, also working with Drink Aware to encourage their alcohol management policy.
"While this can be a relatively isolated episode there is absolutely no place for antisocial behavior within the sport and it's extremely important that all spectators feel able to come forward to report anti-social behaviour and feel safe in doing so."
